Iolan accused of rape

Iolan Dillon D. Knavel, 18, has been charged with four counts of rape, stemming from incidents occurring in May and June.
Knavel’s arrest by Iola police officers last Wednesday was made public Monday, He remains in the Allen County Jail on $50,000 bond.
Knavel is accused of having sexual intercourse with a victim who was under 14 years of age on four occasions.
The charges were filed Monday by Allen County Attorney Jerry Hathaway. Magistrate Judge Tod Davis scheduled a status hearing for this afternoon.
Knavel has been appointed an attorney, Jay Witt, through the Southeast Kansas Public Defender Office.
