John William Zahm, 77, died early Monday morning at Stonecrest-Burlington, a care facility in Kansas City, Mo., following a long illness.
Zahm was born June 23, 1940, in Hallowell. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1958. After a stint in the Navy, Zahm attended barber school, a trade he followed the remainder of his working life, including 35 years in Iola at his shop on West Street next to the post office. He retired in 1999.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Derfelt Funeral Home in Columbus, with burial in Park Cemetery, Columbus.
