Louise Hedman, 83, Iola, went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2016. Louise was born in Humboldt on May 3, 1932, the daughter of Leslie and Mildred Grennell.

Louise was employed at the Allen County Sheriff’s Department from 1981 to 1999. She served in various capacities including being appointed as the first female undersheriff to serve Allen County. Prior to that she worked for Iola Greenhouse and Milne and Mann.

She was a member of the Kansas Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers & Singers.

Survivors include her children, David and wife Becky, Gardner, Jim and wife Karol, Tennyson, Ind., Jeannie Michael and husband John, Emporia, and Mike and wife Becky, LaHarpe; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence James Hedman Jr. and brothers Lee Grennell and Glen Grennell.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, with visitation prior to the service, starting at 9 o’clock. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Humboldt.
