Paul R. Scheibmeir, 85, of Iola, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola.
Paul was born on May 27, 1931 at Neosho Falls. He was the first of two sons born to Herman J. and May C. (Henson) Scheibmeir. Paul grew up in the Neosho Falls and Piqua area, graduating from Neosho Falls High School and then from Allen County Community College.
Paul served in the U.S. Army 1952-1954. He was stationed in Germany as a military police officer. Following his time in the service he returned to the family farm. Paul was a lifelong farmer northwest of Piqua. On Aug. 22, 1981 Paul married Debra A. Ruckman in Iola. This union was blessed with two children, Joseph and Megan. They made their home in Iola until 1984, moving to their home west of Iola. Paul was member of the American Legion for over 56 years in Iola and Yates Center, serving as Post Commander in Iola in the late 1970s. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William “Bill” Scheibmeir, parents-in-law Earl and Margaret Ruckman, brother-in-law Dean Ruckman and sister-in-law Margaret “Jamie” Ruckman.
He is survived by his wife Deb of the home, his children Joseph and Megan Scheibmeir of Iola, and numerous cousins.
Memorial services will be  at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola. The family will greet friends following the service. Inurnment will take place at Highland Cemetery in Iola at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to ACARF or Friends of Tri-Valley and left in care of the funeral home.
