"Ran" Blomquist

Randy “Ran” Blomquist, 62, of Iola died Monday, July 26, 2010, in Coffeyville.
He was born July 22, 1948, in Newton, to Reinhold and Dollie (VanFleet) Blomquist II. He grew up in Peabody and Marion and graduated from Marion High School.
In 1968, he married Sharon Cubit and they had three sons before they divorced. He made his home in the Garnett area and worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation and Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Burlington.
On June 25, 1988, he married Shirley L. (Kratz) Brown in Le Roy. They made their home in Iola. He had worked as an inspector for Transystems out of Independence for the past 18 years.
He enjoyed watching Charlie Chan movies and working outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of the home; three sons, Tom, Garnett, Bill, Hutchinson, and Mike and his wife, Edna, Neosho Rapids; two stepchildren, Darrel Brown, Burlington, and Rhonda Jackson of, Iola; a sister, Vicky Mohn and her husband, Gordon, McPherson; two grandchildren, Aniston and Xander Blomquist; two stepgrandchildren, Thad Maley and Traci Sander; and nieces and nephews.
A brother, Steve, and a stepdaughter, Cindy A. Reese, died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola. Gary Murphey will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
