The Allen Community College volleyball team continued its recent losing skid Wednesday when it fell to Cowley Community College in three sets at home (25-16, 25-11, 26-24).
The loss marks the seventh straight for the Lady Red Devils, who are now 5-16 overall and 1-5 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
Allen is now in eighth place within its II Division. Only Labette and Independence are below Allen with 1-6 and 0-6 conference records, respectively.
In Wednesday’s loss to Cowley, the Lady Red Devils managed to record a positive hitting percentage in just one of the three sets. However, the .095 clip in the third and final set was not enough for Allen to avoid the sweep.
Andi Dowell and Carly Jackson were once again Allen’s top offensive performers with six kills each. But with 15 errors between them and 24 overall as a team, Allen couldn’t overcome the early two-set deficit.
Out of the Lady Red Devils’ 16 losses on the year, 10 of them have been sweeps.
