ERIE — Humboldt High’s baseball and softball teams each earned two road wins against Erie on Tuesday.
The Cubs won 12-1 and 11-0.
In game one, Kason Siemens pitched the complete, five-inning game. He gave up one earned run, one walk, no hits and struck out four.
Jacob Carpenter led the offense with four RBIs, without having a hit. Siemens batted in three, on two doubles. Corey Whitcomb had two RBIs, also with no hits. Tanner Orth had an RBI. Rhett Smith had a single, double and RBI. Jake Haviland had a single and Zach Vanatta hit two singles.
In game two, Haviland and Whitcomb combined for the shutout. Haviland pitched five innings, giving up two hits, two walks and striking out nine. Whitcomb relieved for two innings, gave up three walks and struck out two.
Siemens led the team with three RBIs, with four singles. Tyler Korte had two singles, a triple and two RBIs. Vanatta had two singles and an RBI. Rayce Hoepker had a single and RBI. Devin Davidson and Carpenter each had an RBI. Smith had two singles and Haviland hit a single.
Humboldt (8-2) hosts its home tournament starting at noon on Friday.
THE LADY CUBS remained undefeated with 13-0 and 6-1 wins on Tuesday at Erie.
In game one, Courtney Richey did what she does best — pitch. This time she not only got the win, but had a perfect game while striking out 11.
She also used her bat to lead the team with three RBIs, hitting a home run, double and single. Sabrina Arell also hit a homer and had two RBIs. Delaney Umholtz hit three singles and had two RBIs. Kasey Beeman had two singles and two RBIs. Mallory Roush had two singles and two RBIs. Brook Turner had two singles and a triple.
In game two, Turner pitched the complete, seven-inning game. She gave up one run on six hits, walked two and struck out nine.
Breanna Kline had a single, double and two RBIs. Roush had three singles and two RBIs. Jaci Ross hit a single and had an RBI. Richey had two singles and a double. Umholtz, Beeman and Tuner each had a single.
Humboldt (10-0) hosts a home tournament at noon Friday.
