Fillies finish fourth in Chanute

The Fillies caught the bad end of a tiebreaker on Thursday as the Iola Tennis Team finished fourth at Chanute.
Sophomore Allie Utley continued her dominance at the number two singles spot, once again running the table to win first.
Utley beat Mikayla Kwek of Chanute (8-3), Aubrey Terry of Fort Scott and Ashlyn Smoot of Chanute (8-1).
The number two doubles team of Carlie Payne and Gabby Richards came up just short of a first place finishing, winning 8-1 over Columbus and 8-2 over Fort Scott before falling 8-3 to Chanute in the final round. 
Seniors Macayla Bycroft and Erin Klubek finished fourth amongst the number one doubles with a 1-2 record.
They beat Columbus 8-2 in the first round before falling 8-4 to Fort Scott and 8-3 to Pittsburg.
Number one singles player Jennifer Tidd went 0-3 falling to Jaden Spainhower of Columbus 8-3, Madi Larson of Fort Scott 8-1 and Marissa Vail of Coffeyville 8-6.   
The Fillies will head to Pittsburg on Thursday to to take on the Lady Purple Dragons, Coffeyville and Columbus at Pitt State.
