HUMBOLDT — Visiting Fredonia High blasted its way to an early lead against host Humboldt High, leading 22-4 after one period and 44-6 at halftime of a 68-23 win.
The loss wraps up the regular season for the Lady Cubs, who travel to Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan Friday to open Class 2A substate play.
Despite the large deficit, Humboldt head coach Jeff Wilkerson credited his team’s effort after halftime.
“The girls didn’t quit,” he said. “We got some steals and layups.”
Fredonia outscored Humboldt 24-17 after intermission.
Whitney Strack led Humboldt with eight points. Kendal Young added seven.
Shelbey Baker’s 14 paced Fredonia. Taylor Oakes and Christina Graves added 10 each.
