BURLINGTON — Humboldt High’s softball team earned two more wins on Tuesday night. The team won 12-0 and 9-3 against Burlington.
“We were very aggressive running the bases last night,” coach Brad Piley said. “Delaney Umholtz had a nice home run over the right field fence. Courtney Richey pitched two great games against a good Burlington team. We had 14 hits in the first game and 16 hits in the second game. A nice job from our Lady Cubs.”
In game one’s 12-0 victory, Richey, a junior, earned the win.
She pitched all six innings, gave up one hit, one walk and had 10 strikeouts.
Breanna Kline had a single. Mallory Roush had two singles, a double and two RBIs. Richey had a single, double, RBI and three stolen bases. Jaci Ross had a single, double and an RBI. Delaney Umholtz had a single, home run and RBI. Makaylah McCall had a single, two doubles and two RBIs. Rylan Wilhite had a single and RBI.
Brook Turner started game two, pitching 1 1/3 innings. Burlington got her for three runs in the first inning. Richey came in as relief, holding Burlington scoreless the rest of the way. Richey didn’t give up any hits or walks and struck out 13 batters.
Kline had a single, double, RBI and stolen base. Turner had a single, double and RBI. Roush had two singles and a stolen base. Richey had two doubles and two stolen bases. Ross had a single. Umholtz had two singles and two stolen bases. McCall had two singles and a stolen base. Kasey Beeman had two singles. Tilar Wells had two singles and an RBI.
Humboldt (4-0) will host Eureka on Monday.
