Humboldt alum and current University of Bridgeport senior middle blocker Sheri Middleton was acknowledged for her achievements on and off the volleyball court last week.
Middleton was named to the All-East Coast Conference second team and the CoSIDA NCAA Division II District 1 Academic All-District Team along with the East Coast Conference Elite 18 Award for volleyball.
The 2017 Academic All-District Women’s Volleyball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The Elite 18 Award is given to the student-athlete who has the highest cumulative grade point average in each of the conference’s 18 sports.
First-team Academic All-District honorees will move on to the Academic All-America Team ballot where first, second and third team honorees will be selected later in November.
Middleton has a perfect 4.0 GPA as a mass communications major.
On the court, Middleton had 142 kills and a .308 hitting percentage to go along with 16 aces, 66 blocks and 198 points.
Bridgeport ended its season at 12-16 after falling in the ECC tournament to No. 1 ranked Molloy.
