PLEASANTON — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s track team’s season came to an end at the Tri-Valley League Meet at Pleasanton on Tuesday.
The seventh-grade girls finished second and the eighth-graders finished in third. The seventh-grade boys took fourth overall.
“Overall, I think we had a very successful season. We had a lot of personal records and the kids got better throughout the season,” coach Justin Hurley said. “For this meet, we had a lot of kids who did events that they weren’t used to doing during the season to try and win a league championship. We took a gamble, and to me, it paid off. We weren’t league champions as a team, but we had every one of our athletes place and medal in at least one event.”
Hurley also said the team has come a long way from the first week of practice.
“It’s going to be exciting to get these kids at the high school level,” Hurley said. “It’s going to make us that much better overall.”
