It would have been difficult for Iola seventh-grade volleyball coach Stacy Sprague to draw up a better day on Saturday for her A-Team.
The Ponies were able to find playing time for every athlete on their roster and it translated into a total team effort for five consecutive wins and tournament championship.
The Ponies not only won each match they played, but also won each match in dominating fashion by picking up straight-set victories in each contest.
They opened the day by beating Parsons, 25-18 and 25-20. In their next match they topped Marmaton Valley, 25-15 and 25-19.
The day continued with a victory over Independence, 25-14 and 25-18 and a victory over Coffeyville, 25-14 and 25-20.
The final match of the day was a rivalry match-up with Chanute, but Iola was not fazed and they were able to roll over the Blue Comets 25-19, 25-20.
The team was happy to welcome Jenna Curry back to the lineup on Saturday after she had to be restricted in practice the past two weeks after suffering a concussion.
Curry made a big impact on the court with a team-high 49 serves in-play for the entire day. She also was second on the team in hits.
Reece Murry led the Ponies with 19 total hits. She was second on the team with 34 serves in-play.
Chloe Sell, Logan Ulrich and Ally Ellis also had terrific serving percentages and Sprague said that was a key to the wins.
