MIDWEST CITY, Okla. — Both Allen Community College soccer teams struggled to find the back of the net during their season-opening trip to Oklahoma.
The women lost 3-0 to Rose State College and couldn’t muster much offense with only one shot at the goal the entire game. Brynn Suddeth provided that attempt, but Rose State keeper Revella Fischer was able to prevent the score.
Emily Clark got the start in goal for the Red Devils and allowed 3 of 11 Rose State attempts at goal.
The game was also the season opener for Rose State.
“We played a little short-handed with two starters being out due to injuries,” coach Jeremy McGinnis said. “We missed some early opportunities that could have changed the game in our favor.”
McGinnis knows his team must improve before its home opener against Metropolitan Community College-Blue River on Friday at 2 p.m.
“We’re looking forward to getting back on the right side of things then,” McGinnis said.

The Red Devil men’s team had similar issues with getting its offense going against the Raiders.
Jordan Velasco was able to score Allen’s first goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough to top Rose Hill as the Raiders cruised to a 4-1 victory.
Despite the lop-sided result, Red Devil coach Doug Desmarteau says that his team showed plenty of positives that they can build on.
“For our first regular season game, we played decent in spurts, but made some mistakes in key spots that cost us some goals,” Desmarteau said. “We had several chances that we didn’t capitalize on. We didn’t match their physicality and pace.”
The game was also Rose State season opener.
The Red Devils will open their home schedule on Friday at 4 p.m., when they host Metropolitan Community College-Blue River.
