The Allen County men’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Crowder College on Saturday after more than a week off thanks to weather canceling and postponing matches.
Crowder’s offense was active early, getting lots of shots in the first 15 minutes but none of them connecting with the back of the net. Midway through the first half, the Red Devils’ defense regained some control and Allen started to possess the ball more.
The Red Devils had several big opportunities to break the scoring seal before the end of the half but just couldn’t get it done as the teams went into halftime tied up at zero.
The second half got bogged down by fouls as the game slowed to a crawl in the second half.
Almost halfway into the second, Crowder was presented with a penalty kick. They hit the post and the 0-0 tie continued.
Finally, at the 78th minute of the match, Crowder scored to take a 1-0 lead.
The Red Devils had several more opportunities but just couldn’t do anything as the time ran out for Allen to tie it up.
With the loss, Allen is now 3-9-1 overall. They’ll face Johnson County on Thursday at 4 p.m. right after the Lady Devils play at 2 p.m.
