Red Devils improve to 7-2

FORT SCOTT — The Allen Community College men’s basketball team went 2-0 over the weekend to bring its overall season record to 7-2.
On Friday, coach Andy Shaw’s defense stepped up late to help Allen defeat Penn Valley, 81-78.
After allowing the Scouts to shoot 63 percent in the first half, the Red Devils buckled down and limited Penn Valley to shoot just 32 percent from the floor after the break.
Jermaine Long and Jah-Kobe Womack each had 15 points to help Allen squeeze out another late-game victory.
On Saturday, Allen had its best offensive game of the year in a 112-68 win over Wentworth Military Academy.
The 112 points were the most by the Red Devils this season. All 13 of Allen’s players scored at least once with six of them recording double-digit scoring performances.
Jameel Henson led the team with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The sophomore needed just 16 minutes to earn the double-double.
Long finished with 14 points, Kyle Hultgren had 12 and Darius and Darren Spruill each had 11. Tremaine Fraiser added 10 points.
Allen will host Labette on Tuesday at 7 p.m. before its Thanksgiving break.
