The SEK Sluggers, a local traveling youth softball team, teamed with Modern Woodmen of America, a non-profit life insurance organization, to benefit the Iola Recreation Department. The Sluggers raised $1,652.30 by working concessions at a recent Rec Department-sponsored dodgeball tournament, which was complimented by a $1,500 matching fund check from Modern Woodmen. Presenting the check to the Rec Department Saturday, were, front from left, Maddie Collins, Amy Smith, Addison Oberley, Sydney Barker, Savannah Crellin and Sierra Snavely; and second from left, Kristi Sutherland of the Rec Department, Modern Woodmen agent Josh Oberley and Jason Bauer of the Rec Department. The funds will be used for improvements to batting cages at Riverside Park.
