HUMBOLDT — Robert A. Finney announced today that the Leitzbach Furniture store has been sold to Howard Hargrove of Chanute, who will take possession May 1. The store was founded by Edward H. Leitzbach who came to Humboldt in 1885. Using the fine walnut timber found along the Neosho River, he began the manufacture of chairs, sofas, beds and other pieces of furniture. To provide a local outlet for his products, he opened a retail furniture store, which is one of the oldest in the county. Leitzbach died in 1931. His son-in-law, Robert Finney, has been in charge of the business since 1936. The firm name will be changed to the Hargrove Furniture Co.
