Pastor Chase Riebel continued a series on Resurrection using scripture from Genesis 22 and Hebrews 11.
When God promised Abraham he would make his descendants as numerous as the stars, he kept that promise. Even when God asked Abraham to offer up his only son, Abraham had faith that God would keep his promise and Isaac was spared to carry on the family line.
God has promised us eternal life if we put our faith in Christ.
For the communion meditation, Bruce Symes talked about the twisted crown of thorns placed on Jesus by the soldiers to mock him in Matthew 27:29. Thorns were a symbol of Adam’s rebellion in the Garden of Eden. Because of Adam’s disobedience, God cursed the ground and it brought forth thorns and thistles. At the cross Jesus wore those thorns out of love, suffering the wrath of God in the place of man.
Lexy Langworthy led worship accompanied by Speed Elsasser and Jake Riebel. The songs were “God of Wonders,” “Once Again,” “My King Forever” and “Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus.”
Following the service Greg McCullough was baptized.
