MVHS forensics brings home gold

Several Marmaton Valley High School forensics students rated highly in their respective competitive speaking or acting disciplines at Burlington Feb. 10.

Allison Heim brought home a pair of gold medals, winning the impromptu speaking and extemporaneous speaking competitions.

Rachel Shaffer and Carissa Mattox teamed up to win in improvised duet acting.

Meanwhile, Shaffer placed second in humorous solo acting, Tea Smith was third in serious solo acting; Haylee Meiwes was third in original oration; and Kaylee Becker and Meiwes teamed to finish fourth in duet acting.

ON FEB. 1, Marmaton Valley’s team competed at the Iola Invitational.

Shaffer placed second in humorous solo acting, thus qualifying for state, while Tea Smith finished fourth in serious solo acting.
