Arrests reported
Allen County sheriff’s deputies arrested Lonnie W. Bevill, 45, vagrant, at the Iola McDonald’s restaurant Tuesday for suspicion of violating the Registered Offender Act.
Danne W. Wise Jr., 47, Wichita, was arrested by deputies Monday on U.S. 54 west of Moran for a warrant out of Butler County, stemming from a charge of driving while suspended.
Deputies arrested John J. Morris, 72, Iola, for a probation violation warrant Aug. 13.
A traffic stop Aug. 13 five miles west of Iola on U.S. 54 led to the arrest of Karsen D. Lampe, 18, Iola, for suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia.
Jennifer L. Witchley, 46, Gas, surrendered to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department at the courthouse Aug. 12 for a failure-to-appear warrant.
Driver injured
Levi Knapp was traveling along U.S. 169 southeast of Iola Aug. 11 when his northbound vehicle left the roadway and overturned several times. Knapp, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, and taken by ambulance to Allen County Regional Hospital, and then flown via air ambulance to a hospital in Kansas City.
Deputies said Knapp had apparently dozed off while driving.
Vehicle burns
Jimmy Wolfe Jr. told deputies he had gone hunting and parked his jeep Aug. 13 on the side of California Road, about six miles southeast of Humboldt, where it later caught fire.
Humboldt volunteer firefighters extinguished the blaze.
The cause remains undetermined, deputies reported.
Cow found near Parsons
Jim Smart told deputies Aug. 10 that an Angus cow belonging to him had been located near the old ammunition plant outside of Parsons.
Smart said he knew the animal was missing, but didn’t suspect thievery until another person contacted him about its whereabouts.
