Carlyle Presbyterian Church

Myrna Wildschuetz played  “Love Grew Where the Blood Fell” for the prelude and  Rita Sanders played “Swing Love, Sweet Chariot“ for the offertory Sunday.

Kyle Crites and John and Maria Burton, under the leadership of Richard Klingensmith, led the congregation in singing “If You’re Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands.”

Pastor Steve Traw’s message, the second in a series taken from Luke 15, focused on “The Search.”

Celebrating birthdays this week were Lucy Bevard and Patricia Hodgden Sunday and Mary Sunshine Crites and Sheila Lasko on Tuesday.

Pastor Traw leads Bible Study at 3 p.m. Tuesdays on the book of Acts, Chapter 10.

Country Club

The Carlyle Ladies Country Club met recently with Pat Shields at her home.

Pat’s program was given by her son, John Shields, on the worst disaster and shark attack in history, which happened at the end of World War II aboard the USS Indianapolis.  At the end of his presentation, John played a video of Edgar Harrell’s (USMC) personal account of the four-day ordeal to survive the elements and shark attacks.

Rita Sanders won the door prize.

Attending were Naomi Chambers, Alice Dowell, Pauli Hawk, Joanne McIntyre, June O’Dell, Pat Shields, Phyllis Loomis, Rita Sanders, Cheryl Klingensmith and guest John Shields.   

Myrna Wildschuetz will host the December luncheon meeting in her home.  

Around town

Visiting Jim Hinson and Joanne McIntyre Sunday were Jim’s daughter, Diana, and her husband, Richard Deeds, Emporia.

Also visiting were Kady, Zoey and Kline McIntyre, Yates Center, and Joanne’s daughter, Judy Cochran.
