Christian Church
Larry Wittmer gave the Communion meditation on how all people are born with sinful hearts. Through Jesus, we can celebrate fellowship with God.
Pastor Chase Riebel gave the sermon on “Blessing our children.” Every child has a role to play in God’s kingdom. It’s our responsibility to bring them up in wisdom and teach them the word of God. He referenced many verses, including: Psalm 27:10, Acts 5:29, Colossians 3:23 and Luke 18:15-17. You can listen to the entire sermon at www.colonychristianchurch.org.
Men’s Bible study is at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Youth group meets at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a meal and prayer at 5:30 and adult Bible study at 7.
Creative Blessing women’s life group is making Cherokee double wall baskets at the parsonage Tuesday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The  cost is $15.
Cowboy Church
Pastor Jon Petty shared his testimony of the hundred-fold return he received in a gift he gave.
Becky Petty and David Broyles shared about the School of the Prophets they attended the previous week in Redding, Calif., reminding the congregation that all have been called to prophesy, Acts 2:17, 1 Corinthians 14:1, by intentionally spending time with the Father to know His heart for those we encounter.
Thursday praise band practice and Bible study is open to all and starts at 5:30 p.m. Sunday service at High Point are now lived streamed on Facebook at 9 a.m.
Northcott Church

UMC
A guest speaker brought the message, “Temptation,”  Sunday morning at the United Methodist Church using Scripture from 2 Samuel 11:1-15.
Colony Day
Crest graduate Randy Myers will have a stall in the GSSB parking lot. Randy will greet his former friends and others. Randy graduated from Crest in 1969,  has recently retired and is on his way to Florida where he and wife, Lila will be living.
Randy has been in the trucking business many years and he has written a book telling of his experiences as a trucker. He will be here with several of his books.
Don’t miss visiting with him and his wife. There is little doubt his experiences are very interesting.
Several events have been added since the Colony Day schedule was announced last week.

— Noon, Terry Ellis Memorial Pony Pull, north of Tim’s Transmissions.   
Several prize drawings will be held throughout the day.

CEF
The Crest Education Foundation met Aug. 9 at the Colony Community Room. Officers were joined by guest Debbie Oswald.
Plans were discussed for the Crest Community Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27. Hot dogs, chips, cookies and ice cream will be provided this year. Lions Club members will grill the hot dogs and provide outdoor seating.  Colony United Methodist women will help with serving.
All food and supplies have been donated.  
Special thanks to Bolling’s Meat Market, G&W Foods, GSSB-Colony, Colony United Methodist Church and Garnett Orscheln for their contributions.  
At the invitation of Mr. Walter, community and school groups are welcome to set up booths.
CEF will provide a welcome sign, informational booth and a fun photo booth.
CEF will also be present at Colony Day Sept. 1, with a Lancer lemonade stand in the bank parking lot from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thanks to Pat and Trena Golden for donating supplies.
The Foundation will have a parade float as well.
CEF plans to start a Read 2 Lead Campaignto secure new books for Crest Elementary School.
The next meeting is at 6 p.m. Sept. 6 in the City Hall Community Room.
Lions Club
Crest superintendent  of schools and elementary school principal Shane Walter was a guest at the Aug. 1 meeting.
Eight members answered roll call.
Vice President Butch Lytle introduced Walters, who spoke about his life and family, and his desire for more collaboration between the school and community.
The Lions agreed to set up a table at the school’s open house.
Mary Scovill and Sue Colgin led a discussion about creating a Lions Club pin for the Colony club. They will research prices and designs. G
Lions Club members will cook breakfast for the Sept. 1 Colony Day celebration.
