Christian Church
Bruce Symes gave the Communion meditation on the importance of believing the Gospel. John 3:16 describes the first part of that gospels, and 1 John 3:16 describes the second part of the gospels. Jesus paid for our sins by dying on the cross, and gave us an example of how we should live. (also referenced 1 John 3:17-18, 24). Pastor Chase Riebel gave the week one of Advent sermon on Hope of Immanuel. Hope, when Biblically defined, means confident, expectation, assurance and trust. We put our hope in the promises of God, and each generation must put their trust in God, not rely on their parents beliefs. (Ref. Psalm 78:7, Hebrews 11:39-40, 10:23, 2:14-18, 9:11-14, 2 Samuel 22:31, Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 7:14, Matt 28:18-20, John 14:3, 15-17, Galatians 4:67, Acts 1:10-11, Revelation 22:12, 21:1-5).
Mens Bible study is at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Meal and prayer time are at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a youth group at 7 oclock.

Cowboy Church
Pastor Leo Ramsey welcomed everyone to the service Tuesday at High Point Cowboy Church followed by praise and worship led by Cindy Beckmon.
Apostle Jon Petty read from 2 Corinthians 5:14-21 and 6:1-2 stating that all have been reconciled and as Christs ambassadors (representatives), we have the ministry of love and reconciliation for others. The anointing God gave us is not for us but for others. Becky Petty added comments that we are accepted and loved, using Luke 4:18-19.
This Sunday, the church will host a holiday dinner in the high school cafeteria following the morning service. Plan to bring a covered dish and stay for the noon meal.

Colony Christmas Parade
A cool evening temperature of 42 with a light rain greeted the typical good sized crowd to watch Colonys 14th Christmas Parade. More will be shared in next weeks Colony News.
City Council
Larry Penka voiced concerns to Colony City Council members recently about a dog inside a pen, calling the animal vicious. He complained about dogs barking at him while he is in his yard.
The dog is property restrained, according to city ordinances, Council members responded, although there is an ordinance against excessive barking.
Council members approved a request from nutrition site organizer Jodi Smith to waive rental fees for City Hall. The group will supply trash bags, soap, paper towels or other supplies.
