Kim Peterson has been a part of the Iola City Council since January, having been appointed to the seat after it was vacated by Michael Middleton.

“I talked to a lot of people about it, and they noted it would only be for a year,” she said. “If I didn’t like it, I could just not run again. So I figured I’d give it a try.

“And I’ve liked it,” she noted. “I’ve felt like, since I’ve been doing it for this long, I should stick it out and try to keep learning. And it is a lot of learning.”
