If weather cooperates, the Veterans Memorial Garden on the south courthouse lawn should be well along its way to completion for ceremonies to honor veterans Nov. 10.
Dirt work began this week. Alana Kinzle, who proposed the garden and raised funds, told commissioners Tuesday morning concrete work will be done soon and fall foliage planted. Other amenities will be added.
Commissioners said they would provide materials for a power outlet but its installation will be up to Iola. Assistant City Administrator Corey Schinstock said, Well have to figure how to do it and then take it to the city council, whose members will decide.
