Browns plan Saturday concert

November 17, 2011 - 12:00 AM

The Browns plan to turn their gospel concert Saturday night into a true family affair.
Family members Shelly, Michaela, Adam, Andrew, Nick and Jessica Brown, along with Nick Trammel, Jessica’s husband, will perform at 6 o’clock at Iola’s First Christian Church, 1608 Oregon Rd.
The performance is part of the Southeast Kansas Christian Artists Series schedule of mini-concerts.
Organizers ask only for free-will offerings for admission, SEKCAS member Dee Singer said.
Those who show up are in for a treat, Singer said.
“They’re really a neat family,” Singer said. “We’ve been trying to get them here for years.”
The Browns travel out of their family farm near LeMars, Iowa.
Since they started performing about 10 years ago, the Browns have toured nationally and have been featured in Branson, Mo., Dollywood in Tennessee, aboard Carnival cruise ships and at the National Quartet Convention.
The family members also are accomplished violinists, Singer said.
The show originally had been scheduled for Sunday but was changed to Saturday because of a schedule conflict with Sons of the Pioneers at the Bowlus Fine Arts Center.
The Browns are making their inaugural performance in Iola, although Trammel has performed locally with The Perrys, another renowned gospel music group.
“He’s a tremendous performer,” Singer said. “We’re excited to have them all here.”
