Rita Sanders played “Oh, Happy Day” on the piano for the morning prelude. In thinking ahead of the first day of school, Maria Burton, David Ensminger and Richard Klingensmith each sang their own version of the ABC Song. Maria sang the school version, David the Christmas version and Richard sang the gospel.

Pastor Steve Traw’s message, “Facing the Wind,” was taken from Mark 4:36-41.

Bob and Rosa Shaughnessy celebrated their wedding anniversary Sunday.

Richard Klingensmith introduced the Christian Strings, comprised of ladies from three churches and four communities, who provided heavenly harmony courtesy of their stringed instruments. They performed such standards as “I’ll fly Away,” “When Johnny Comes Marching Home,” “His Eye Is on the Sparrow,” “Cotton-Eye Joe,” “God Bless America” and “This Land Is My Land.” An instrumental solo was performed on the violin. The group ended the concert with “Amazing Grace.” David Loomis opened the service with prayer; Pastor Traw’s ended the event.

Refreshments were served following the performance.

Pastor Traw leads Bible study at 3 p.m. Tuesdays on the book of Philippians.
