Iola police officers arrested Darious Travawn Orr, 25, after he was accused of beating a child seriously enough to send the child to a hospital.
Tuesdays arrest came after officers were notified Thursday by personnel at Childrens Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., about an Iola child admitted with head injuries.
The childs identity, age and gender was not released. Warner declined to give information regarding the childs condition.
Following the notification, IPD contacted the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to assist with the investigation.
A search warrant was executed in the 200 block of McGuire Drive Thursday evening.
Orr also was accused of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
