A wayward peacock found meandering through Iola’s residential areas in recent weeks is best left alone, animal control officer Elisha Womelsdorf said.
The city has received several calls of the feathered visitor, with reports ranging from North Kentucky Street to South Cottonwood Street.
Actually, there may be two peacocks in town, Womelsdorf said.
Womelsdorf said the peacock likely came from a nearby farm.
She’s cautioned Iolans against trying to feed and/or trap the bird.
“We’ve heard about both,” she said.
