The after-school USD 257 SAFE BASE program joined forces with Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the 31st Judicial District in recognizing April as Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. The kids and CASA advocates planted a pinwheel garden in front of the Bowlus Fine Arts Center Wednesday afternoon to help spread awareness.

The pinwheels are a national symbol of child abuse prevention. Advocates with CASA are appointed by judges to advocate for children who are going through the legal system because of abuse and neglect.

Aimee Daniels, director of CASA, noted that this is the first time they’ve collaborated with SAFE BASE and placed a pinwheel garden at the Bowlus.
