Crews with Bettis Asphalt and Construction, Inc., Topeka, pour concrete Wednesday morning between Washington and Walnut streets as work continues on the U.S. 54 reconstruction project.
If construction stays on schedule, the north half of the highway is expected to be completed by early August, when two-way traffic will shift onto the newly rebuilt lanes and work begins on the south half.
The downtown portion of the project is expected to be finished by October.
