Clifford L. Creason, 89, of Iola died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Tara Gardens in Iola.

He was born Aug. 10, 1922, in Iola, the son of William Caleb and Glessie Mae (Turner) Creason. He grew up on a farm west of town.

On Jan. 12, 1944, he married Joan Reddington at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. They made their home in Iola most of their married life.

Clifford drove for Cyrus Truck Lines in Iola for 40 years. He also raised horses, mules and pheasants and entered his horse and wagon in area parades with his grandchildren riding along. He enjoyed playing cards and gardening. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church west of Iola and the Teamster’s Union.

He is survived by his wife of the home; three children, Harold and his wife, Janice, Bonner Springs, Carol Perez and her husband, Fidel, Kansas City, Mo., and Vinnie Wille, LaHarpe; two brothers, Jim, Iola, and Bob, Paola; a sister, Beverly Hefner, Mountain Grove, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell L. in 1983, two great-grandchildren, Cyrus Graham Burchett and Cole Michael Creason, and four siblings, Wilma Gregg, Erma Saling, Reba Wilkins and Raymond Creason.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
