 Dorothy Ellen Skinner, Shidler, Okla., died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Fairfax Memorial Hospital. She was 87.
She was born Jan. 2, 1923, in Mildred, the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Mefford) Holeman. She received her early education in Mildred area schools.
On Sept. 28, 1941, she married Ralph J. “Bud” Skinner in Girard. The couple made their first home in Iola and had lived at various other locations prior to moving to Shidler in 1954. She was employed for several years as a sales clerk in the Shidler Grocery Store. She also served several years as the local tag agent in Shidler and had helped with the family slaughter house business. She had owned and operated Dorothy’s Restaurant in Shidler and had helped her husband operate Ralph’s DX station. She was a longtime member of Shidler United Methodist Church and her enjoyments included making clothes for her family and reading.
 She is survived by her three children, James Lee, Webb City, Okla., Donald and his wife, Wanda Faye, Shidler, and Connie Smith, Ponca City, Okla.; a sister, Frances Jackson, Woodward, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Christie Forbes, Tulsa, Okla., Matthew Smith and his wife, Amy, Minco, Okla., Robbie Biddle, Oxford, Pa., Pam Moore, Noble, Okla., Cheryl Skinner, Newark, Del., Jay Skinner, Shidler, and Dawna Wray Reamy and Teri Sue Schultz, both of St. Joseph, Mo.; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, three sisters, two brothers and a great-grandchild died earlier.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in LaHarpe.
She will lie in state at Shidler United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
