Douglas Wayne “Doug” Luedke, 66, of Anthony, formerly of Colony, passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at his home.
Funeral services were today at Colony United Methodist Church in Colony.
Doug was born June 12, 1951, Colony, and lived most of his life in this area. He graduated from Crest High School in 1969 and attended Allen County Community College in Iola.
He worked for many years for his father, Wayne Luedke, at Luedke Construction, He also worked for Hofer & Hofer Construction as a foreman for several years. Later he owned and operated his own business, Luedke and Sons Construction, in Chanute. More recently, he had worked for H2O drilling in Anthony. He was a member of the Thayer Masonic Lodge and past president of the Colony Lions Club. Doug was an avid outdoorsman loving to hunt and fish. He was proud to have helped build the Colony Park shelter and the high school addition. He enjoyed playing softball and bowling through the years and especially liked spending time playing the guitar and singing with his family and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Luedke, in 2015, and one granddaughter, Monica Lynn, in 2005.
He is survived by four children, Jacob Luedke, Anthony, Jason Luedke (Jaime), Picayune, Miss., Linda Kasselman (Karl), Olsburg, and Lisa Marie Beers, Harrisonville, Mo.; his mother, Twila Luedke, Colony; one sister, Marcia Harrington (Jeff), Bonner Springs; eighth grandchildren, Austin, Augustus, Elijah, Seth, Dale, Akeylah, Creed and Colt; one great-grandson, Brantley, as well as a host of other family and friends who will miss him greatly.
