Eric Dunlap Larson, Claremore, Okla., died Monday, April 2, 2012. He was 73.
He was born in Exeter, Mo., on Aug. 3, 1938 to Carl and Nellie (Dunlap) Larson. Eric graduated from Central High School in Springfield, Mo. He served in the U.S. Navy and then completed his education earning an associate degree from Iola Junior College.
In 1961, Eric and Jeanie Holeman married and to this union two sons were born.
Eric was employed in a variety of fields throughout his work career from heavy equipment operator to truck driver. He retired in 2002.
In 1978, Eric and Sarah Margaret Glades married and made their home in Iola, then Tulsa, Okla., before settling in Claremore 32 years ago.
Boating, fishing, hunting and bowling were all activities that Eric enjoyed when time allowed. Eric and Sarah enjoyed their trip to the Bahamas so much that the third trip they took their entire family with them. Though an avid reader and gardener, spending time with family brought him the greatest satisfaction.
Those who survive include his wife; his mother, Nellie Ellis, Springfield; his brother, James and his wife, Alma, Springfield; children Mark Larson and his wife, Angie, Iola, Brett Larson and his wife, Jana, Rockwall, Texas, Philip Jacobs and his wife, Nikki, Chanute, and Jennifer Vanover and her husband, Terry, Claremore; grandchildren, Emily (Larson) Sigg and her husband, Austin, Megan, Kelsey, Kyler and Braden Larson, Austin, Dallas and Bryson Vanover and Summer, Emma and Raylin Jacobs; and one great-granddaughter on the way.
He was preceded in death by his father Carl, stepfather Clifford T. Ellis, and infant sister, Ann Christina Larson.
Memorial services were this afternoon at First Baptist Church under the direction of Rice Funeral Service of Claremore.
