Fidel “Poncho” Perez, 79, of Kansas City, Mo., died Dec. 22, 2025, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Mo.
Fidel was born Dec. 11, 1946, in Iola, to Federico Perez and Florentina (Chavez) Perez.
He entered the Marines in 1966 and served in Vietnam, earning several badges and medals during his military service.
Fidel and Carol Creason were married March 6, 1987, in Kansas City, Kan.
Fidel was preceded in death by his grandson, Cade Oakley.
His wife survives, as do four daughters, Sarah Perez (Matt Brinkman), St. Louis, Mo., Janett (Chris) Ferrell, Muskogee, Okla., Nan Oakley, Phoenix, Ariz., and Jennifer (Jason) Jenkins, Kansas City, Kan.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, followed by a memorial service at 11 in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola. Inurnment with military honors will follow the memorial service in the Legion Section of Highland Cemetery, Iola.
Memorials are suggested to Wings of Warriors, and may be left with the funeral home.
