Garry Lee McCullough, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at Saint Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri, on Saturday, May 10, 2025. He was 75 years old.

Born May 21, 1949, in Kincaid, Kansas, to Richard and Dora (Hole) McCullough, Garry spent his life surrounded by the love of family and friends. He dedicated 25 years of his career to Columbia Metal, retiring in 1996. On Aug. 13, 1971, he married the love of his life, Joyce Scheer, in Iola, Kansas, sharing 53 wonderful years together.

Garry’s life was filled with joy and laughter. He cherished time spent camping and fishing, playing games, and most of all, being with his family. He was known for his playful spirit, especially his endearing habit of teasing his wife and grandchildren. His warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dora McCullough; his son, Darren McCullough; his brother, Dany Ray McCullough; and his sister, Linda McCullough.

Garry is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Joyce McCullough; his son, Garry Dean; his sister, Betty Ames; his brothers, Marvin and Calvin McCullough; his grandchildren, Dustin McCullough, Nicole McCullough, Zack Ganzer, Brendon McCullough, Jonathan McCullough, and Alexis McCullough; and five cherished great-grandchildren.

Funeral services celebrating Garry’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 16, at Rivertree Christian Church, 301 W. Miller Road, Iola. Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home.
