Geraldine “Gerry” Marie Bain, 81, Iola, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.
Geraldine was born in Neosho Falls on Sept. 29, 1935, to George F. and Alma E. (England) Fox, the third of four children. She grew up in the Iola and Gas area and graduated from Iola High School in the class of 1953. She married Donald W. Bain in Iola on Nov. 8, 1953. They moved around to several locations in Alabama, Texas and Missouri due to Don’s military service, and eventually settled back in Iola. She was a longtime member of The First Presbyterian Church in Iola. She enjoyed singing in the choir and with Vespers, and serving her fellow members on the Session and as a Deacon. She enjoyed raising vegetables and admiring her flowerbeds, and was a dedicated fan at various sporting events watching her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her regular gatherings with “The Coffee Girls.”
Survivors include her husband Don of the home; her children, Jeryl L. Crane and husband Craig, Lawrence, Donald W. Bain Jr. and wife Lynda, Lawrence, Jannette D. Sigg and husband Daniel, Iola, and Jenise C. Wade and husband Mark, Iola; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a sister, Patricia Conine, Olathe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents and her sisters, Wanda Judah, Pittsburg, and Joanne Valentine, Eureka.
Services will be Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Iola. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with her funeral service immediately following at 10:30. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery at Iola.
Contributions in memory of Gerry may be made to The First Presbyterian Church and left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
