Michael Trainor Sr., passed away peacefully in his recliner at home on Aug. 14, 2018 at the young age of 62. He was born Nov. 19, 1955. He had recently moved to Yates Center to his own place but had lived in and around Iola for many years. Originally from Pennsylvania, he relocated with his wife and children to Iola in 1986, just a day after the infamous Inland Hurricane had devastated the area. Big Mike, as he was well-known, was adored by all who knew him. He was a machinist by trade but a fisherman at heart, loved playing video games, visiting with family and friends, and was a big movie and TV buff with one of his favorite TV series being M.A.S.H. He rarely was found without his signature fisherman Captains Hat in place.
He leaves behind his four children, Darla Ulrich and husband Brian, Wendy Tucci and husband Christopher, Mike Trainor Jr. and former wife Mandy Connolly, and Angela Trainor-Pruitt and husband Roger. He also will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, The Trainor 7: Whitney and Zachary Ulrich; Michael, Alex, Ashley and Alisha Trainor; and his favorite online shopping buddy Jonah Tucci.
He is preceded in death by his one true love and whom he missed dearly every day since her passing, his wife Linda Mae, who left this world in 2010; his parents Marlene and George Trainor, as well as both his siblings, a beloved sister Marlene Rhoads and a brother George Trainor, who passed away in infancy.
Cremation is planned with private family graveside services to be held shortly thereafter. Condolences and donations to assist with his final expenses and burial costs can be sent to 1835 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas, 66749 in care of his eldest, Darla Ulrich. Online condolences and remembrances can be shared at jonescampbellfuneralhome.com/obits.
