Mildred Allen

Mildred Elizabeth Allen, 97, of Bronson died Monday, April 11, 2011, at Moran Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 1, 1913, in Birch Tree, Mo., to John Robert and Emma Alice Morrell Baugh. 
On June 8, 1933, she married Chester “Chet” Allen in Eminence, Mo. He died in 1981.
She worked for the grocery stores in Redfield and Bronson. In 1970, she began working for Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott as a cook. She retired after 10 years in 1980. She had a great talent for embroidery, quilting, crocheting, sewing and dancing. She was a member of the Polka Lovers of America Polka Club, Kansas chapter. She was also a member of Bronson United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, John, Mapleton; a daughter, Bonnie Trowbridge and her husband, Ray, Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; a sister, Velma Keffer, Council Bluffs, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Willie, a daughter, Betty Garman, four brothers and five sisters.
The Rev. Rusty Newman will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel. Burial will be in the Bronson Cemetery. 
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
