Former Illinois resident Robert (Bob) Charles Mundt, 88, died July 9, 2016, at his home with his wife and family by his side in Iola.
At the family’s request, no service will be held.
Bob was born Dec. 29, 1927, in Dixon, Ill., to Harry and Laveda Mundt.
Bob could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. He built his own beautiful home in Green Rock, Ill.; and was always thinking of ways to improve his home in Iola. As recently as this past May, he was still refinishing furniture. He enjoyed watching his rather loud but happy family gathered to visit and play their various games. He was an avid antique car enthusiast and won many awards with his vintage 1952 Chevy pickup.
Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He spent two years in Germany. He worked many years for John Deere International Harvester in East Moline, Ill., and retired at the age of 57.
Bob married Sandra Bowers in 1954. They were married just shy of 62 years and raised four daughters, Dell Laa (Butler), Darr Laa (Kindelsperger), Debb Raa (Ingle), and De Anna (Broaddus).
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two baby daughters. He is survived by his wife and four daughters, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Condolences may be sent to Sandra Mundt, ICO Dell Butler, 45385 Poplar Lane, Lexington Park, MD 20653.
For Bobbie: Be such a man, and live such a life that if every man were such as you, and every life a life like yours, this earth would be God’s Paradise.
