Robert Curtis Reynolds passed away on Sunday afternoon, June 19, 2016 at Grand Strand Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, S.C.  

He is survived by a daughter, Ellen Reynolds (Debbie Shiflett), Monroe, N.C.; a son, Curt (Katie) Reynolds, Fort Collins, Colo.; a grandson, Jake Reynolds, Boulder, Colo.; and a granddaughter, Julia Reynolds, also of Fort Collins.  He also leaves his friend and companion, June Moon, Surfside Beach, S.C. He was preceded in death by two wives, Susan (Brogdon) Reynolds and Barbara (Helmick) Reynolds.

Bob was born May 27, 1930, in Kansas City, Kan., to the late Curtis and Florence Reynolds. His family soon moved to Iola to run the drug store at Madison and Jefferson, and he graduated from Iola High School and was a member of the league champion 1947 Iola Mustangs football squad. He then attended the University of Kansas and the University of Kansas City, earning a pharmacy degree.  

The son of a pharmacist, Bob was a practicing pharmacist most of his adult life, owning and operating several drug stores and pharmacies. While serving in the Navy in the 1950s, he met Susan Wells Brogdon who became his wife in 1958. They returned to Kansas after leaving the Navy, and they had two children, Ellen and Curt.

He retired in 1995 and moved to North Myrtle Beach. Upon the passing of Susan in 1999, Bob married Barbara Helmick in 2002.  

Bob was an active member of the choir at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in North Myrtle Beach, and he also enjoyed painting and drawing. His paintings, drawing and tiles adorn the homes of many of his friends and relatives. 

 

Services were this morning. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Broad Shoulders Fund of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
