Shelby Jean (Grant) Comstock, 72, a resident of Moran Manor, died Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Allen County Hospital in Iola.
She was born on Dec. 23, 1937, in Pontotoc County, Miss., to William Herman Grant and Cannie Catherine Little Grant.
She was married to Raymond W. Comstock on Sept. 24, 1960. They raised and loved eight children.
She held several different jobs, including working for the Tyson chicken plant  in Iola and at local nursing homes. Her biggest passion was her family.
She enjoyed playing basketball, fishing and later playing bingo.
Survivors include her children, Patricia “Darnell” Derrick and husband, Ricky, Ripley, Miss., Raymond “J.R.” Comstock and wife, Melanie, Holton, Jeffrey Comstock and wife, Tami, Humboldt, Anna Smith and husband, Joe, Clinton, Mo., James Comstock, Ripley, Robert Comstock and Julie, Holton, Doris Decker and husband, Robert, Bronson, and Cathy Barrera and husband, Obed, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Neal Grant; and brother-in-law, Earl Comstock. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren on the way as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, granddaughter Mary Derrick, sister Marie Grant, brother Curtis Grant, sister Estelle Riddle, brother J.W. Grant, sister Susie Owens, brothers Tom, Nade and Junior Grant, seven sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Funeral services were this morning at the Bronson Cemetery, following services officiated by the Rev. Jeff Feagins in the Cheney Witt Bronson Chapel.
