Viola Anna (James) Moser, “Viola from Iola,” 95, was born June 23, 1921 to Allen and Bertha James in Andover, and passed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, Feb 25, 2017. She graduated from Andover High School in 1938, then attended Wesley Nursing School, Wichita, earning her RN degree in 1942. Vi married Ralph Raymond Moser on Jan. 10, 1942 and they lived most of their 65 years of marriage in Iola, where Vi was dedicated to her family, friends, and serving at Wesley United Methodist Church. Playing the piano and organ brought much joy to Vi. Ralph and Vi moved to Topeka in 2002 to be near their daughters and families. They were blessed with four daughters, five grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren (with a 12th due this August).
Vi was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, infant daughter, Leanna Kay Moser, sister Myrna (James) Dill, and twin brothers, Loren and Lowell James.
Surviving are daughters Rita Roeder (Robert), Gail Stich (Ron) all of Topeka, and Debra Connell (Michael), Kansas City, Mo.
A celebration of Viola’s life will be held for family. Inurnment will follow in Andover, at a future date.
