24 Wildcats named ‘All-Three Rivers’ at league meet

In their final chance to kick the tires before regionals, the Yates Center track team put up a solid showing at the Three Rivers League meet, placing 24 athletes on the All-League team.

Athletes must have finished top-six in the meet to be considered All-League.

Junior Hadley Splechter led the way with four first-place finishes including the 800 (2:07), 1600 (4:52), 3200 (10:48) and the 4×800 team of himself, Jordan Smith, Colin Bedell and Kobe Forsyth who’s time of 8:16.1 beat the team’s previous school record by three seconds.

Smith finished third in the 1600 (5:07) and fourth in the 3200 (11:08) while Bedell finished fifth in both the 1600 (5:11) and the 3200 (11:20).

Forsyth finished second in the 400 (53.69) and in the 4×400 along with Smith, Bedell and Quin Lowder (3.44).

Thayne Smith finished third in the 100-meter dash (11.97) and John Righini (11.98) and Lowder (12.22) finished right behind in fourth and fifth respectively. Smith also finished fourth in the long jump (18’8.75”) while Righini finished fifth in the triple jump (37’8”).

Kayle Smith finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (45.43) and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (18.86).

For the girls, Jaylee Catron finished third in the 300-meter hurdles (54.97) and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (20.06) while Liberty Cavender finished fourth in the 300 (56.25) and second in the 100 (18.86).

Madelyn Proper finished sixth in the high jump (4’4”).

The Wildcats will compete in the Leon-Bluestem 2A regional on Friday before heading to state the week after.
