Allen men?s basketball started off the 2018-19 season right with a 77-68 win over Northern Oklahoma College – Tonkawa at home as part of their Allen Classic.

Led by sophomore Perry Caroll?s 21 points, the Red Devils cruised to a 41-23 halftime advantage before letting down a bit in the second half. NOC outscored Allen 45-36 through the second period but the Red Devils kept their distance thanks in part to 16 free throws in the second half.

Allen could?ve kept the Mavericks even further at bay, but they also missed 13 free throws down the stretch.

Helping Carroll in the scoring department was fellow sophomores Wesley Anderson Jr., who had 16, and Jamaal Clifton, who had 12. Trez Hankins had 10 points.

Clifton also helped himself to a season-opening double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds.

The Allen women also played NOC-Tonkawa, but were not as fortunate, falling 93-76.

Both teams will continue the Allen Classic tomorrow. The women will play Bacone College at 5 p.m. while the men will play KJCCC foe Labette at 7 o?clock.
