ALL-PIONEER LEAGUE Iola High basketball players earn regular season recognition

Iola High’s boys and girls basketball seasons came to an end, but the members of the teams have been receiving postseason accolades.
For the Fillies, two players earned spots on the Pioneer All-League Teams. Sydney Wade made the first team. She was primarily featured as Iola’s starting point guard. One of her best game’s came on Jan. 24 against Santa Fe Trail in the Burlington Midseason Tournament. The Fillies won 69-26 and the team shot 10-10 from beyond the arc. Wade led the way with four 3-pointers and 14 points.
Emery Driskel earned a spot on the second team. She has become a regular on the All-Pioneer basketball teams. She started as a forward this season and one of her best games also was against Santa Fe Trail, but on Feb. 3. The Fillies won 53-21 and Driskel led the way with 12 points.

FOR THE MUSTANGS, Kaden Macha earned a second team selection. Macha worked more as a point-forward, directing traffic and going after rebounds.
He led the team in every offensive category. He averaged 12.2 points, six rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Macha played a crucial part in almost every game for the Mustangs.
