A young Allen Community College baseball team celebrated a dominant weekend with a sweep of visiting Baker University.
The Red Devils took the first two games of the four-game set on Thursday, rolling to wins of 9-0 and 10-0.
Allen capped off teh fun with 13-2 and 6-2 victories on Sunday.
Allen (7-5) takes a five-game winning streak into a doubleheader Tuesday against Ottawa University.
The wins were a byproduct of throwing strikes, which in turn led to crisp defense, Allen assistant coach Wyatt Moore said.
“We were throwing it over, getting strikes and getting on top early,” Moore explained. “And then we let the defense make plays.
“It was definitely a group effort from an offensive perspective,” he continued. “We had a lot of guys come up with two-out RBI hits. Collectively, 1 through 9, we mixed up our lineup and gave a lot of guys opportunities, and they took advantage.”
