The Allen Red Devils hope to return to form after falling in three of four contests while on the road Friday for the Central Iowa Triton Invitational.
After opening with a 3-0 sweep of Ellsworth Community College, the Red Devils fell to Iowa Central in straight sets 3-0, then North Iowa Area Community College 3-1.
They wrapped up the day with a 3-0 loss to North Dakota State College of Sciences 3-0.
In the opener against Ellsworth, Allen won 25-19, 25-10 and 25-22 for the sweep.
Freshman outside hitter Baylee Belt had a team-leading 10 kills, followed by freshman outside hitter Maria Santana’s nine and freshman outside hitter Alissa Hadzic’s 6. Sophomore libero Audrey Peek and freshman opposite side hitter Kahena Di Grazia tied for the team lead in aces with two each.
Defensively, Peek had a team-leading 19 digs, followed by freshman setter Jaidyn Follis and freshman defensive specialist Carolina Mania with 10 each. Belt also had a team-leading two blocks followed by sophomore middle hitter Laurel “Grace” Larimore and Di Grazia with one each.
The Red Devils’ luck ran out against Iowa Central, who took the match 25-17, 25-17 and 25-12. Santana had a team-leading seven kills, followed by Brummet with six, then Belt with five. Peek had a team-leading two serving aces, followed by sophomore defensive specialist Camila Afonso with one.
Peek had a team-leading 14 digs, followed by Belt with 8, then freshman defensive specialist Carolina Mania with five. Brummet and Larimore had a team-leading two blocks each.
The Red Devils also lost their next two matches against North Iowa and North Dakota State.
Allen hosts Labette County Community College (20-16, 2-5) Wednesday.
